Home Sweet Blog: My Journey Back After a 4-Year Break
Feel’s so good to be back in my little internet home! 🏠 Back in 2020, I took a step away from my blog, Lucid Lilac. Reason being? I lost interest, and the blog post ideas just weren’t flowing in. Updating the site started to feel like the biggest chore ever. (And also — It’s not like any life altering events happened that year to distract me or anything.)
But something dawned on me the other day as I was chugging my Iced Matcha Latte in the parking lot of Burlington Coat Factory. I need to revive my blog. It’s been a long enough break and I feel like I’ve got some new perspectives to share at my old age (lol jk but not rlly). A lot has happened in these past 4 years! I’ve entered my 30’s, gained & lost some friendships, had a few failed flings, survived a Trump presidency 🤢, and a whole gang of other stuff I’m probably forgetting (or conveniently leaving out).
Point is, yet again I’ve found myself at a point in life where I feel I have something to say. Something to offer to the internet void. While I love and appreciate any loyal readers I acquire here along the way, that’s not really what it’s about for this blog. I’ve always intended it to be a place for me to share what’s on my mind, where I can be as candid and honest as my heart desires.
This time around, I don’t want to restrict myself to certain topics for the sake of being in a “niche”, so this is my official notice that Lucid Lilac is now a ✨niche-less✨ blog. I suspect most of my posts will still be about navigating life as a single Black woman in her 30s—things like home buying, changing relationships, and career shifts. But I also want the freedom to share more of my world: my hobbies, travels, and whatever else life brings my way. I want this space to reflect what my life actually looks like.
If anything I’ve shared resonates, I’d love for you to stick around. My corner of the internet will always be cozy and open for you! 🥰
